The problem

California made accessory shipments conditional. Most retailers answered by not shipping.

The law

Six things have to happen before a firearm accessory can be delivered to a California address.

What retailers did

Most manufacturers picked the cheapest safe answer: route every California accessory order to a licensed dealer, or stop shipping to the state.

Both are defensible. Both move the work onto the buyer, who now drives to a dealer, signs a transfer, and pays for it — to receive a rail.

What it costs

Dealers near Eureka quote around $100 to receive a package and hand it over.

The two orders that started this project were $61 and $82 of mounting hardware. The transfer costs more than the parts, so the order gets cancelled and support spends the afternoon explaining why.

How it works

Four steps between the cart and the carrier.

Cleared executes the retailer’s policy at each step and keeps the record of what it did. Every classification carries its basis: statute, federal law, or the retailer’s own conservative choice.

  1. Step 01

    Every line in the cart is classified for the destination before payment: ships direct, needs the gate, FFL only, or cannot ship.

  2. Step 02

    The buyer reads the statutory notice, attests to it in writing, and completes an identity and age check. One pass, before the card is charged.

  3. Step 03

    The delivery address is normalized and compared field by field with the address on the ID. A mismatch holds the order instead of shipping it.

  4. Step 04

    The label carries the statutory sentence and adult signature, or the whole shipment routes to a licensed dealer. The record stores what happened.

Cleared started with one cancelled order and a few days of building. It is not a product with a price list. It is a working proof that a small retailer can keep shipping to California without cancelling orders, and the next step is proving that on real orders.
